What we do

We track warnings from the FTC, FBI, Social Security’s Inspector General and state attorneys general, then explain them in plain English: what the scam looks like, the red flags, and exactly what to do. Every article cites official sources. We are independent and not affiliated with any government agency.

What we cover

  • Phishing emails
  • Scam text messages
  • Phone scams and caller ID spoofing
  • Government impostor scams
  • Social Security scams
  • Tech support scams
  • Grandparent and AI voice-cloning scams
  • How to report scams in the United States

Who we write for

Americans aged 45 and older — and the adult sons and daughters who look out for them. That is why our pages use large text, high contrast and simple layouts, and why almost every article ends with an easy way to send it to someone you love.

Our team

  • Nathan Fielder, writer. Nathan Fielder writes Red Flag Briefing's scam alerts and guides. Each article is checked line by line against the official government sources listed at the end of it before it is published.

Every article shows who wrote it and when it was last updated. You can read how we research and check facts in our editorial policy.

What we are not

  • We are not a government agency. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the FTC, FBI, USPS, Social Security Administration, IRS, Medicare or any other agency.
  • We cannot investigate cases or recover money. Our report a scam page lists the official places that can.
  • We do not give legal or financial advice. For your specific situation, talk to a lawyer, your bank or a licensed professional.
  • We will never call, text or email you to ask for money or personal information. If someone claiming to be us does, it is a scam.
